Folkestone Independent Living Scheme
Who Are We?
The Folkestone Independent Licing Scheme is part of Kent Adult Social Services (KASS), giving a support service to those with a disability who wish to live in the community - but in their own homes.
By working in partnership with Care Management, we aim to offer a customer-led service tailored to the needs and wants of the client.
What Can We Offer?
We offer Quality care and support in accordance with the negotiated service level agreement, liaising when necessary with family and friends.
For those on their first steps to independence, we are able to offer
- A more structured environment in our shared living accommodation in Folkestone, with staff on hand throughout the day to teach & assist with basic day to day living skills,
- Monitoring progress to enable an eventual move-on into a home of their own, where they will continue to receive the help and support of ILS Staff.
- Investigating suitable housing opportunities through local Council and Housing Associations
Other areas in which we offer support and guidance include:-
- Applying for and maximising Benefits
- Budgeting
- Travel training - use of public transport
- Developing social skills through various activities, including running their own social club - SPRUCERS
- Promoting sports participation - regular netball training is a very popular example of this
- Encourage educational opportunities and structured day activities
- Exploring suitable employment opportunities
- Continuing to encourage personal hygiene awareness
- Health & safety in and around their home
