Psychiatry

Psychiatrists work with people who are having problems with:

• their thoughts and feelings and how their mind and body works together.
• The health of their brain and how it affects their health and well-being.

A Psychiatrist will:

• find out as much as possible about the problems the person is having by talking to them, talking to other people and reading their notes.

The Psychiatrist may:

• give medication or look at what medication is already being taken.
• Ask the person to see someone else who will help them.
• See the person again.
• Arrange for the person to be in a safer place such as a hospital if they need it.
